Stag/Bachelor Weekend Done

Weekend in Chicago is now over and we’re headed back to Baltimore.

Things accomplished these five days in Chicago:

1. No flight delays into Chicago

2. Six miles of walking around Chicago on hottest day of year. Burned those calories!

3. Figured out area we want to live – Old Town, here we come!

4. New black pumps and 2 purses bought. My wardrobe is coming back together after the 4 garbage bags we got rid of in England.

5. Jock gets lost for two hours on Stag Do/Bachelor Party. Or rather, the party loses him. He describes it as “the worst two hours of his life.” He eventually finds them and continues the drinking and partying. Oh, but before that, they get on TV at the Cubs game.

6. First Mexican meal in the states in Potter’s Bar in Naperville and some raw cookie dough with ice cream to finish it off – only in America.

7. American television – the amount of prescription drugs advertised baffles me. I forgot how much we over medicate and then brag about it on TV. Deal or No Deal, as much as I loved it in England, I will NOT be watching those annoying, loud, screaming people in America. Don’t we understand the joy of subtlety at all? Watched “Monster’s Ball” for the first time as well – Halle Berry clearly doesn’t in her over-the-top performance sex scene. She won the Oscar for that? Really?? Heath Ledger should have gotten it.

Back to Baltimore for a week to finally work on getting my book sold. Will let you know the progress of that! Finishing the query letter, finding the right agents and stepping towards the future for Jock and I.

Glad to hear things are going so well! I imagine you'll be having those “why, America, why?” moments for a while to come lol! Can't wait to read your novel!!!

Good choice on your living location. I forget why you ended up picking Chicago? I know it's a great city though. Okay, you must post on how Jock got lost and where he got lost. There are some scary parts to every city!

Oh yes, at my age I know more that can go wrong with me than my grandmother EVER did thanks to non-stop pharmaceutical commercials. It's disgusting and it's why almost everything I watch is on the DVR. People now walk into the doctor's office and tell the doctor what medicine THEY want instead of letting the doc prescribe based on a diagnosis. This is thanks to those commercials.

I watched Deal or No Deal when I was in England and Noel Edmonds makes it so much more intriguing than the U.S. version too. He does a good job hosting.

Okay, so I realize now that I missed your “I'm moving!” post while I was out of the country a couple of months ago. So wow, you're MOVING to Chicago!! I did not realize that! That's so awesome. I will be living not too terribly far from you (I think — I'm still learning the geography of this city) in September as well! If you'll have me, I'd like to check out a Ladies Who event, so keep us posted!!

Old town sounds very much like the Yorkville area of Toronto. It too used to be the hippie neighbourhood of the 60's, is home to entertainment and art, great shopping and lovely architecture. I wish you all the best in finding your home in this area. I bet you'll love it :)

I think that raw cookie dough ice cream could actually KILL you. Right there on the street as you eat it. Old Town looks awesome! Can't wait til you're settled and we can come visit, cuz you know we will!!
